LAUNCH OF THE GREEN IT CHARTER FOR COMMITTED ENTITIES

The “Green IT Charter” is already available for every entity wishing to reaffirm their commitment with environmental sustainability, broadening its scope to the ICT policy and infrastructure.

LIFE Green TIC Project is launching a new initiative to raise awareness on the need that public and private organisations (public authorities, public bodies, educational institutions, companies, etc.) put into practise Green policies on the way they use Information and Communication Technologies.

The object of this initiative is to encourage all different institutions to sign a Green IT Charter for entities to make their commitment clear. The Green IT Charter offers a list of good practices to which every entity, in a voluntary basis, can commit. Entities can chose either one good practice, several or even all of them and they also have the option of adding other possibilities they consider of interest.

The Green TIC approach is an important complement for organisations with a third-party verified environmental management system or a socially responsible policy (environmental), or a simple energy consumption monitoring and control (power consumptions related to ICT infrastructure and devices is already 10% of the total EU consumption).

The Green IT Charter for entities can be complemented with and individual Green IT Charter, for those people wishing to commit themselves, as ICT users.

Both Charters can be downloaded from the Documents section of the project website http://www.lifegreentic.eu/es/documentos/9 and can be sent via e-mail to lifegreentic@patrimonionatural.org
