GREEN TIC – Emprende is trying to mobilize the educational community and young entrepreneurs up to 30 years of age, asking them to contribute their point of view and ideas in line with the LIFE Green TIC project philosophy, a project co-financed by the European Commission.

We are searching for ideas, projects and experiences that help us reduce the ecological footprint of ICT and to reduce, through the use of ICT, our own ecological footprint as a society.

We believe that young people possess a fresh vision of the world they are living in and an awake mind capable of outstanding ideas as a result of the appropriate work. Every solutions suggested by them to the current problems we suffer will result, if materialized, in a better world for us all.

For this purpose, a competition based on the creation of work teams, will take place. These groups must develop a brand new Green TIC project, idea or action. All of them can be focused from a triple perspective:

a) Those which allow us to reduce the ecological footprint of ICT: to extend life cycle of devices and/or their batteries, to contribute to equipment reuse or recycle, to reduce energy consumption or certain raw materials consumption during the production process of devices, etc. These ideas can refer to design, manufacturing, use and life cycle end of the ICT devices.

b) Those which allow to fight against adverse environmental impacts (such as climate change) through ICT solutions: services, software or applications that contribute to reduce the ecological or carbon footprint of such sectors as building, transport, industry, agriculture, tourism, administration, work and consumption methods and almost any other you can think of.

c) Those which allow to use ICT as management tools for environmental information in a way that citizens, students or the educational community have a more simple access to this information and as a consequence, a better access to environmental protection participation. We are looking for services, software or applications that contribute to this objectives.
 
The three possibilities can be referred to projects or original ideas from which a solution could be developed (for example a smartphone app, a software or any other ICT tool) or a proposal for Green TIC actions to be developed in a public or private institution or organization.

What are the objectives?
With the organization of the GREEN TIC – Emprende we are seeking:

- To disseminate Green TIC ideas and concepts among young people, entrepreneurs and the ICT companies.
- To contribute to the promotion of scientific and technologic vocations and to the application of such knowledge to real life.
- To compile ideas and projects in a catalogue, that will be a useful tool to make public potential solutions for environmental problems (climate change among them).
- To promote citizen’s innovation and the transferability of results.

Whose are the competition targets?
GREEN TIC – Emprende competition is open to any team composed by residents in Spain under 30 years of age and qualified for the development of these actions, even though is mainly focused on University and vocational education students (FP grados medio y superior in Spain) in fields related to ICT and the environment.
The participating teams must present those ideas or projects they want to develop and that could end up being real technological solutions. As long as they are original ideas, they will be subject to a confidentiality clause.
