The user “@aldose” user gets the first prize “Mi huella TIC (My ICT Footprint)”
As part of the actions developed by the Green TIC project, financed by the EU LIFE program and coordinated by the Natural Heritage Foundation of Castilla y León, a photo contest has been carried out to raise awareness on the responsible use and consumption of information technologies. The pictures could reflect the ecological footprint of the ICT use or the environmental and climate change benefits that these technologies can offer us, with the aim of rising awareness on these issues to the society.
The visual elements contribute to interesting nuances, as it can be seeing in the more than 70 pictures that have been presented to this first “Mi Huella TIC” contest ; they all contribute to rising awareness, so much of elders and youngers.
Alberto Domínguez Serrano with the "aldose" user has got the first prize thanks to a photo published in Instagram in which he shows the relation between the climatic change and the abusive use of smartphones, a picture that also allows us to think about the useful life of ICT and our responsibility when it comes to renew this type of technological devices. As winner of the contest, he might choose between a balloon flight over a Protected Area of Castilla y León or an advance on-line photo course given by the San Valero group of Zaragoza.
The photo by Iván (Iván Argüelles Medina) sent via Facebook has got the second prize. This person will be able to choose between pass to the Hydrothermal Municipal Area of the city of Logroño or four tickets for the festival "Musicians in the Nature 2014", that will take place the next 5th July in the municipality of Hoyos del Espino, situated in the Gredos Range.
Besides, all photographies received, and as an acknowledgement for the participant’s effort, have taken part in the third prize draw, consisting of a batch of books of the series “Photographers of the Nature” published by the British Museum of Natural History or two tickets to the Forests of Adventures of Castilla y León. The winner has been Federico Gutiérrez Cifuentes (@fedeguci) that has participated with the photography “History of an umbrella”, which was sent via Instagram.
A total of 73 photos have been received between 8th April and 31st May 2014, period in which the contest has remained opened to participation: 36 via Facebook, 11 via Twitter and 26 via Instagram 26. Each week the organisation selected between three and five finalists pictures and, among them, the two first winners have been chosen because of the originality, the creativity and the meaning of the message that transmitted.
The community Igers (followers of Instagram) has collaborated very actively with the dissemination of this contest, with a big interaction among Social Networks taking place.
