39 public and private organisations have already signed their “Green TIC Commitment Charter”

The Charter offers an options’ menu so that any organisation can mark its own objectives for the energy consumption reduction of their information and telecommunication equipment and devices.

39 organisations have already signed the Green TIC Commitment Charter in the framework of the LIFE project, and among them there are both public bodies (municipalities, foundations, public companies, technological centres) and private organisations such as companies, associations and private foundations.

Thus, any organisation can commit according to its own company policy, social responsibility or environmental management policy and of course, according to its own budget availability.

This initiative aims at fostering the awareness raising of the organisations in relation to the energy and resources consumption of their ICT infrastructure. At the same time, the initiative will contribute to the implementation of measures that help reduce those consumptions while improving the efficiency and competitiveness of services.

LIFE Green TIC project provides these organisations with the tools to help them establish and develop their own objectives, such as a methodology for the drafting/drawing up of Green TIC strategies/action plans, a green purchase guidelines document that helps them to acquire more efficient and environmental friendly equipment within their acquisition policy, and a Good Practices Manual for workers.

All organisations are invited to join this initiative because the Green TIC approach is an important complement for those ones that already have a certified environmental management system or a social (environmental) responsibility policy, a strategy to fight climate change or a simple energy consumptions control, because the electricity consumption linked to the ICT infrastructures and devices accounts already for 10% of the total UE consumption.

To participate you just need to download the model commitment Charter and send it –once filled in- via e-mail: http://www.lifegreentic.eu/es/documento/carta-de-compromiso-green-tic-para-entidades
